How to Use Strong
Getting started with Strong is straightforward. Follow these steps to set up your account, create your first workout routine, and start tracking your lifts like a pro in just a few minutes.
Download and Create Your Account
Download Strong from the App Store or Google Play Store. Open the app and create a free account using your email or Apple ID. You don't need to sign up for a paid trial immediately—the free tier lets you explore all the basics before committing to Premium.
Choose or Build a Workout Routine
Tap on the 'Routines' tab to browse pre-built templates like Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, or Full Body splits. To build a custom routine, tap 'New Routine,' give it a name, and add exercises from the library by searching or browsing categories like chest, back, or legs.
Log Your First Workout Session
Select your routine and tap 'Start Workout.' For each exercise, add your warm-up and working sets by tapping the plus button. Enter the weight, reps, and optionally add notes. The rest timer will automatically start after each set—let it count down or tap to skip.
Review Your Progress and Keep Improving
After finishing your workout, tap 'Finish' to save the session. View your workout history on the 'History' tab to see volume trends, personal records, and calendar streaks. Use this data to progressively overload by adding weight or reps each week to keep making gains.
