How to Use Hevy
Getting started with Hevy takes less than two minutes. Download the app, create a free account, and you're ready to log your first workout. Here's how to set up your first routine and start tracking your lifts like a pro.
Create Your Account and Set Goals
Download Hevy from the App Store or Google Play, then sign up using your email, Google account, or Apple ID. On the onboarding screen, select your training frequency and experience level. This helps the app tailor default recommendations, but you can customize everything later.
Build Your First Custom Routine
Tap the 'Routines' tab and select 'Create Routine.' Give it a name like 'Push Day' or 'Upper Body.' Search for exercises using the library — you can filter by muscle group or equipment. Add sets, reps, and rest times for each exercise. Hevy will save your routine so you can start it with one tap next gym session.
Log Your First Workout
Open your saved routine and tap 'Start Workout.' The app guides you exercise by exercise. Enter the weight and reps for each set, then Hevy automatically starts a rest timer. Swipe completed sets to mark them done. You can also add notes or RPE (rate of perceived exertion) for each set.
Review Your Progress and Adjust
After finishing, Hevy shows a workout summary with total volume and duration. Head to the 'Progress' tab to see charts tracking your estimated one-rep max, total volume over time, and frequency per muscle group. Use this data to decide when to increase weight or adjust your split.
