What is Daylio?
How to Use Daylio
Getting started with Daylio takes just a few minutes. Follow these steps to set up your mood tracking routine and start uncovering valuable insights about your emotional patterns and daily habits.
Download and Install Daylio
Visit the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and download the Daylio app. The installation is free and takes less than a minute. Open the app and grant basic notification permissions so Daylio can send you friendly daily reminders.
Customize Your Mood Levels
Daylio lets you personalize the five mood levels with different emojis, labels, and colors. Take a moment to set up moods that genuinely reflect your emotional vocabulary—whether that's 'Rad,' 'Good,' 'Meh,' 'Rough,' and 'Awful' or something entirely your own.
Log Your First Entry
Tap the large central button to log your current mood. Select the appropriate emoji, then add activities that describe what you've been doing—choose from the built-in icon library or create custom ones. You can also write notes, attach a photo, or record a voice memo to capture the moment fully.
Set Up Daily Reminders
Go to Settings and enable daily reminders. Choose a convenient time—perhaps morning, evening, or both—for Daylio to nudge you. Consistent logging is the key to getting meaningful insights, and reminders make it effortless to build the habit.
Explore Your Statistics
After a few days of entries, dive into the Statistics tab. You'll see mood charts, activity breakdowns, and correlation analyses that reveal which activities are linked to your best and worst days. The Year in Pixels view becomes more impressive as your data grows.
Enable Cloud Backup
Navigate to Settings and connect your Google Drive or iCloud account to enable automatic backups. This ensures your journal entries and mood history are safe even if you lose or upgrade your device. You can also restore your data seamlessly on a new phone.
