How to Use Craft

Craft makes it easy to turn your ideas into organized, beautiful documents. Follow these steps to set up your first Space and start creating with confidence.

1

Create Your Craft Account

Sign up at craft.do using your email, Apple ID, or Google account. The free plan gives you instant access to 1,500 blocks and 1GB of storage, so you can start exploring without committing to a paid plan. Download the desktop or mobile app for the best experience.

3

Create Your First Document

Click the + button to create a new document. Use the drag-and-drop layout blocks to add headings, text, images, checklists, and more. The editor is intuitive—just type / to see available block types, or drag elements directly onto the page to arrange them visually.

4

Use the AI Assistant

Highlight any text and click the AI icon to rewrite, summarize, expand, or change the tone. You can also use the AI Assistant to brainstorm ideas, draft content from scratch, or refine your writing. Each plan includes monthly AI credits that refresh automatically.

5

Share and Collaborate

Invite team members to your Space by sharing a link or sending an invite. You can publish pages publicly as a website, or keep them private with role-based permissions. Real-time collaboration lets everyone edit simultaneously with comments and suggestions, making it easy to work together.

Craft FAQ

What is Craft and how is it different from other note-taking apps?+
Craft is a visual-first workspace that combines notes, documents, tasks, calendars, and whiteboards into unified Spaces. Unlike traditional notes apps that are text-only, Craft offers drag-and-drop layout blocks, an infinite canvas for brainstorming, and award-winning design. It's more flexible and visually polished than most alternatives, making it ideal for both personal organization and team collaboration.
Is Craft free to use?+
Yes, Craft offers a generous free tier with 1,500 blocks, 1GB storage, 7-day version history, and 15 AI credits per month. For unlimited blocks and storage, you can upgrade to Plus starting at $8/month (billed monthly) or $4.80/month (billed annually). Family and Team plans are also available for groups.
How does Craft's AI Assistant work?+
Craft's AI Assistant helps you rewrite, summarize, brainstorm, and generate content directly within your documents. It offers three model tiers—Core, Fast, and Max—so you can choose the right balance of speed and quality. Each plan includes monthly credits (15 on Free, 50 on Plus) that refresh every month.
Can I collaborate with others in Craft?+
Absolutely. Craft supports real-time collaboration with inline comments, suggestions, and shared Spaces. You can publish pages publicly via a link or keep them private with role-based permissions. Family and Team plans provide dedicated shared Spaces for groups of 2 to 10+ members.
What platforms does Craft support?+
Craft is available on Mac, iOS, Windows, and the Web. It offers seamless cross-device sync, so you can start a note on your phone and finish it on your desktop. Offline access is supported on desktop and mobile apps, ensuring you can work without an internet connection.
Is my data secure in Craft?+
Craft uses encryption for data in transit and at rest. Documents are synced via Craft's servers, and you can export your data anytime as PDF, Markdown, or HTML. For teams, role-based permissions and admin controls help manage access. Note that Craft does not currently offer end-to-end encryption for individual notes.
How does Craft compare to Notion?+
Craft offers a more polished, design-focused experience compared to Notion's functional but denser interface. Craft includes a native whiteboard canvas and a more intuitive AI assistant, while Notion excels in database flexibility and third-party integrations. Craft is better for users who prioritize aesthetics and ease of use, while Notion suits those who need complex relational databases and extensive customization.
